Japanese architecture has long and great history but it is not all native. Japanese architecture has been inspired by Chinese and other Asian cultures and architectures. Wood has always been very important part of Japanese architecture and has even been said that the world oldest wooden houses are in Horyu-Ji temple in Japan. It is possible to split Japanese architecture into periods. The most important historical periods in Japanese architecture might be Asuka, Nara, Heian, Kamakura, and Edo. There are others historical periods too and I am sure that in some opinion those periods are not the most important ones. Modern architecture in Japan is also well-known all around the globe and it is very skillful too. The best place to see modern architecture in Japan is probably Tokyo and if you want to see some traditional architecture the best place is Kyoto. We will visit both Tokyo and Kyoto. I already know that we will see lots of wonderful buildings and awesome architecture.
Kinkaku-Ji is Buddhist temple in Kyoto. It is one of the most famous Japanese buildings and we will go watch it during our trip! This temple has originally built in 1397 and the lake which is front of the temple is called “Kyoko-chi” what means the mirror lake in English.
A typical thing in traditional Japanese architecture is elegant roofs.
